Tributes : Sumithra Peris

    I count Victor Rathnayake among the few Sinhala singers I genuinely respond too. The musicalty of his voice and the simplicity of his melodies are two qualities I admire in him. But above all I find him an impressive showman, a quality very rare among our singers. Victor Rathnayake has a magnetic stage presence, which seems to have helped him in his almost meteoric rise to popularty. “SA” which has become a part of our musical heritage, owes its success as much to Victor’s personality as to his voice.
